Gus Teeton:
I am a recent graduate of UCT, having studied Music Technology and African Music Theory. I have been mountain biking since little little. (I remember telling a presenter at an XCO ‘six and a half’ once)
Cycling has been an incredible way for me to make friends, interact with interesting people and experience new and beautiful places and cultures.
In 2019 I was privileged enough to take a year out of my studies to cycle, unsupported, across Africa, from Cairo to Cape Town.
The thing that struck me most over the 9 months was the constant, unbelievable, friendliness and generosity of the people I met. Now I want to convince as many South Africans as possible to travel within our safe and alive continent. Outdoor adventure sport puts me better in touch with others, with myself and with God. That’s why I do it.
Patrige Chimwendo:
I’m a matric student at Alexander Road High. I really enjoy interacting with people as well as being outdoors and being active.
My love for cycling started when I was about 12 years old and took part in a small 10km race at Lorraine Primary. From then on, I started doing more races and moves to Lorraine Primary as they offered cycling as a sport option.
My biggest cycling achievement was winning The Herald Mountain Bike 60km in 2020. I’m really excited for @prudential_pe_plett and for where this sport and opportunity will take me in years to come.
